Top Puppy - December 9, 2013

This week's Top Puppy winner this week has been nominated by Ms. Shultz:

'I would like to nominate Heather Sheatler for Top Puppy for her kindness toward another student.  She heard that Nick Panella lost the scones he made in Intro to Cooking class yesterday.  She put one of the scones she made in my class today into a paper bag, and asked me if she could bring it to Nick to cheer him up.  I am sure she made Nick's day very special!'

Congrats Heather!

Top Puppy - November 25, 2013

The Top Puppy award goes to Nick Murray and Tyler Mednikoff.  Both young men took time out of their classes when they heard a fellow classmate having a particularly difficult moment in the hallway.  These boys showed the ultimate selflessness by asking their teachers to leave class, not knowing how long it could take to help calm this student, and have to make up missed work/notes while tending to this student.  Not only have Nick and Tyler proved to their teachers their humanity, trust, and desire to help and caring of others - but they have now proved it to the entire BHS community.

Top Puppy Award this week goes to Monica Hersher and Lydia Lawrence.  Both of these students demonstrated a fantastic work ethic over a busy few weeks to organize and promote the Empty Bowls fundraiser with the Art Club as their CAS project.  The event was a huge success in conjunction with the opening of Legally Blonde.  Money was raised for a great cause, the Art on display was beautiful, and the soup was delicious!

Congrats Monica and Lydia!

Top Puppy - November 12, 2013

Top Puppy this week goes to Caroline Dudas, a BHS Senior!

As a member of the BHS Varisty Cheerleading Team, she has definitely demonstrated Bulldog Spirit both on and off the field.  Cari helped to create the Bedford Jaguars Adaptive Cheer team, which is the first of its kind in the state.  In addition to her own grueling extra-curricular schedule, she came every week to support the Jaguars Adaptive Cheer team as an Assistant Coach.  Cari is an exceptional young lady. I am grateful to her for the time she has given and the dedication she has shown this team (and each of its members)!

Go, Cari!!!

This week's Top Puppies are Sumana Shashidhar and Sadhana Tadepalli for giving up their time in coming to the World Religions class to give a wonderful presentation on their Hindu faith.  This is the third time Sumana and Sadhana have visited the class over the last couple of years and, each time they come, the class has been totally fascinated with the slides, props, and food they bring with them to enlighten us on Hinduism.  Congrats and Thank You Sumana and Sadhana!

This week's Top Puppy winners are Jack Gornam, Lydia Lawrence, and Nicole Nover.  This is what Mr. Butka had to say about our winners: Lydia, Nicole and Jack designed the drill for the marching band's half-time show.  This took many hours of hard work.  Their collaborative efforts produced a very innovative and visually entertaining drill that the band performs at the football games.   Thank you Lydia, Nicole and Jack for carrying on a tradition that was started a few years ago.  A job well done!

This week's Top Puppy has been awarded to Kelly Gibbons.  This is what Mr. Lukach had to say about Kelly:

"I'd like to recommend Kelly for Top Puppy!  Last week, Kelly took it upon herself during her free time to help out some of her fellow bulldogs who were dealing with a difficult situation.  When the situation arose, Kelly sprung into action without hesitation to help others, and exemplified what it means to be a Bedford Bulldog!"

Congratulations Kelly!

Pat Manning has been amazing this year.  He comes to advisory with a wonderful attitude, has baked healthy snacks for his fellow advisees unsolicited, participates wholeheartedly, and I'm just so proud of his growth from freshmen to sophomore year.

Top Puppy - September 02, 2013

Madison was a student of mine last year in Geometry and was such a wonderful addition to my class.  Aside from being kind and generous to her teachers and peers, she is one of the most dedicated students I have met in my seven years of teaching.  She puts a great deal of effort in her work and never gives up on herself.  During finals she worked and studied so hard but she was unable to finish her exam.  Two days later, after grades were already entered, she cam to me asking if she could finish her exam just for herself, not for any extra credit.  I think this dedication to academic excellence definitely deserves an award!
