Top Puppy - December 21, 2015

This week's Top Puppy was nominated by Ms. Lederhos:

When Shavanna Houston heard that a BHS student was in the hospital, she came to me to ask for some materials so she could design and illustrate a card for this student. She illustrated a beautiful get well card and had friends sign it. Savanna took the initiative to take the time to make this students day a little brighter.

Congratulations Shavanna!

Top Puppy - December 14, 2016

This week's Top Puppy has been put forward by Mr. King who said the following:

Alexandra Maters was out sick recently and was going to miss a lab that she was conducting with her lab partner. Not only did she notify me of her absence, but she then went on and coordinated with another lab group, as well as her own lab partner, to make sure they were all able to complete the lab and not fall behind. This consideration and care for others makes Alexandra a Top Puppy in my eyes.

Congratulations Alexandra!

This week's nomination has been nominated by Mr. Lukach who said of our winner:

I'd like to nominate Bobby Brockway for Top Puppy. On Saturday night at the UNH Hockey game, a toddler was climbing around between periods and fell through the folding seat and got his leg stuck. Bobby, seated in the row in front of me, immediately sprung into action to help the kid in distress in true Bulldog fashion!

Empty Bowls fundraiser was successful with the help of these hard working and responsible students: Tim Weeks, Kira Fahmy, and Molly Muir. A huge thank-you to all of these students.

Congrats Empty Bowlers!

Top Puppy - November 9, 2015

This weeks Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Pratte who said of our winner:

I would like to nominate Duncan Sanford for Top Puppy this week. Our advisory has had some really fun days and, some not so exciting days this year. Duncan let us know what he would like to do in advisory, so we followed his lead on Friday and everyone in the group had a great time with his idea; it was one of our best activities yet. We had 25 minutes of laughs and relaxation together to finish off a stressful "end of the quarter" week. I think we could all benefit from getting to know Duncan better.

Top Puppy - November 16, 2015

This week's nomination has been made by Ms. Edwards:

I'd like to nominate the boys soccer team for Top Puppies. They recognized a community member needed help and responded showing great citizenship, kindness and generosity. For 30 players to give up their time on a very wet Veterans Day morning showed true Bulldog spirit and demonstrated that these guys are champions both on and off the field!

Top Puppy - November 2, 2015

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Uliasz who said the following of our winners:

Habte Morby and Aditya Srinivasan took it upon themselves to clean up a mess in our humanities classroom. This is not the first time the freshmen have stepped up to become leaders in my classroom without any thought of accolade. Great job to these students for being great citizens and Bulldogs!

Top Puppy - October 26, 2015

This week's Top Puppies are Regan Schiappa and Josh Bauer who have led the boys and girls soccer teams with distinction this season. As the teams enter the play offs this week (games are at the stadium at 4:30 on Wednesday and Thursday) both Regan and Josh have been outstanding performers and leaders for their teams on and off the field.

Another major accomplishment for Egan and Josh is that they both recently committed to play D1 soccer at UCONN and UNH. It is quite rare for New Hampshire soccer players to play for D1 soccer teams and so, to have two players from the same school participating, is huge for our soccer programs. Congrats Josh and Regan.

Top Puppy - October 13, 2015

As a school, we have so many students who share compassion and respect for each other and the environment we work and live in. Once such student is Noah Fesl who is this week's winner for Top Puppy. Noah was nominated by Mr. Dempsey, who said of our winner:

'During the lunch break last week, Noah was appalled by the way that some student's had left trash in the courtyard. Instead of walking past this trash, as many would have done, Noah decided to show respect for his school and picked up every last piece. Thank you Noah for this wonderful gesture and the example you have set for the rest of the school.'

Congrats Noah!

These ladies went out of their way to move desks and chairs and really embrace the school mission statement of showing respect, compassion, and integrity for all by really reaching out and thinking about everyone in their classroom. As freshmen, and three weeks as a Bulldog, their care and attitude for others was truly awesome.'

I would like to nominate Perveskwer Jaswal for Top Puppy. As a member of the Senior Project Committee, I receive many special requests for a variety of things over the course of a year. It is clearly evident that Pervesh has had many great teachers who taught him how to be articulate and compassionate. Needless to say, his request was instantly granted and my day was made that much brighter! Well done, Pervesh!

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Mr. Stanwood who said the following of his nominations:

I would like to nominate Sophomore Yeifi Zheng, Junior Jack Troyer, and Senior Ty Benson for making it on stage in Orlando this past week at the DECA International Career Development Conference (just the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th students from BHS to ever hold this honor).

  • Jack placed for his test score in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
  • Ty placed for his Financial Consulting presentation and also finished 11th overall in the DECA DASH 5K to begin the trip.
  • The BHS chapter also received the US ARMY Leadership award on behalf of NH DECA for the 2nd straight year.
All three of these young leaders showed their potential by pushing themselves beyond their comfortable limits, applying critical thinking and problem solving techniques, and embodying the BHS mission on the international stage. Great work guys!

Isabelle Kapoian won second place in a national painting competition, the US Fish and Wildlife Junior Duck Stamp competition. She painted a Tundra Swan cygnet in oil paint. Top Puppy - April 13, 2015

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by the Junior class student council who wrote:

There is a student in our class named Cory Wallace, and we believe the actions he has made over the past week are worthy of recognition. Cory was in charge of the yearly junior class game "Assassins", but after it was shut down for various reason, he decided to ask each person to donate their money to World Visions International charity instead of getting their money back. Almost every person in the game donated, and Cory was able to raise upwards of $1,310 for a little boy in Uganda named Brian. This money is enough for over 3 years of Brian's sponsorship. Cory turned the disappointment of closing this game into an amazing charitable event, and we believe this is a perfect example of what is so great about our bulldog community.

BHS's delegation of 27 beat out over 500 students from 35 schools to win the delegation award, and these two ladies were major contributors.

The library staff would like to nominate Katharine Cusack for Top Puppy. Katharine had the idea of starting a book swap in the library and as part of our library makeover, we thought this was a great idea! Now students and faculty can leave a book if they'd like to donate or keep a book if they find one they like! We dedicated a bookshelf in the new silent study area for the book swap. It's creative ideas from students like Katharine that make the BHS Library a great place to be!

Congratulations Katharine

Top Puppy - January 5, 2015

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ns. Nichols who said the following of our winner:

I would like to nominate Tommy LeMay for Top Puppy! Tommy joined Model UN just this year as a Junior and has quickly become one of the most integral members of our delegation. Since day 1, Tommy has committed himself to learning all he can about Model UN and has worked hard to apply all of his research to becoming an incredible delegate. At the most recent conference in Chicago, Tommy won an Honorable Mention award as Surinam in the Organization of American Staates Committee. But for Tommy this was not the end, the next day he wrote to his chair asking for constructive criticism about his performance at the conference so he could get better in the future. To quote the response he received; "for you to ask for constructive criticism as a junior in high school is quite impressive. Many adults avoid asking for constructive criticism out of fear and that ultimately hinders their ability to be successful." I am so proud of Tommy not only for the dedication he has shown to Model UN this year but for striving to be better - success is surely in his future! We are so lucky to have him as part of our team.
