Top Puppy - December 19, 2016

This week's winners have been nominated by Ms. Cooney and Ms. Hatzidakis:

"We would like to nominate Demetri Anagnost, Evan Meinhardt, Kaylyn Tracey and Lacey Lavigne for top puppy. These four took it upon themselves to take our research assignment in Global Studies to the next step when they had hit a wall in typical research. They found that there was a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony at the Veterans hospital in Manchester. They used this time to attend this ceremony, visit and interview local veterans. This experience helped to engage and enrich them. They even have signed up to volunteer for more time with these veterans. We received an email from the workers at the VA saying how wonderful our students were. We are so proud of these students who found a way to truly engage in their learning."

Congrats Bulldogs!

Top Puppy - November 28, 2016

This weeks Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Wilczweski:

"I would like to nominate Franklin Nyamwange and Amadou Ndiaye for Top Puppy. This encounter was relayed to me by one of our fabulous food service ladies. Last week, she was talking to a student, Spencer, who was brand new to the school and who was asking about the options for lunch. Franklin and Amadou noticed this and took Spencer under their wing. They introduced him around, sat with him at lunch where he was seen smiling and having a good time, and introduced him to me in the school store. The next day Spencer was also helped in the breakfast line by another young man, whose name is unfortunately not known. It can be so intimidating to start at a new school especially after the school year has started. These young men showed the spirit of a true Bulldog!"

Congrats!

Top Puppy - November 21, 2016

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms Cooney:

"I would like to nominate Thomas Norfleet for top puppy. I have never met Thomas before or taught him in class but today he was in the Academic Center peer tutoring another student. He legitimately made my whole day. He was encouraging and very kind. He was saying things like "you got it man" and "what else do you think you could do here?" It was amazing! He was a natural teacher. The two had just met that day but Thomas volunteered more of his time."

Congrats Thomas!

What a wonderful example of kindness this student is!"

Congrats Natalie Ferreira

She creates a positive school culture on a daily basis, makes others feel welcomed and helps them to feel really good about themselves. She treats others with kindness and respect. Thanks Marisah for having such a big heart and accepting others for who they are. You are an inspiration!!!!"

This week's Top Puppies are the five football captains, Jake Gregson, Sean Tierney, Nick Leahy, Nick Cannone and Shahrukh Hussain who did an amazing job recently inspiring the local youth football players in the community. The Jags players were truly appreciative and inspired having their heroes visit and being such impressive role models for our future Bulldogs. Congratulations Jake, Sean, Nick, Nick and Shahrukh for being great leaders within our community.

Top Puppy - September 26, 2016

The winner of Top Puppy this week has been nominated by Ms. Villemaire who said the following:

"I would like to send a big shout out to the BHS Student Council members, especially the seniors, for all their hard work the past few weeks! The Pep Rally was great and the Homecoming GLO dance was a huge success. I'd like to nominate Shanna Scribner for top puppy because even though Shanna no longer serves on Student Council, she is always there to help her fellow Bulldogs! Shanna showed up before the Homecoming dance to assist with setup and stayed well after to help us clean. Shanna was under no obligation to help out, but she did...because she's awesome. Thanks, Shanna!"

Ms. Corbin echoed these sentiments about the student council:

"I would like to nominate the senior student council members who facilitated the pep rally. In my 7 years of teaching, that was the most fun and positive rally that I have experienced, and I think a lot of that rested on the leadership of those seniors planning and facilitating the rally."

Top Puppy - September 19, 2016

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Lynch who said the following of our winners:

"I would like to nominate Autumn McIntyre, Hannah Feldman, and Georgia LeComte for top puppies. After noticing a table in the lunchroom filled with others trash, they took it upon themselves to clean it up so the custodians wouldn't have to do it. There was no prompting by an adult, just kids seeing something bad, not turning away, but fixing the problem, caring about others instead of themselves. Because let's face it, no one wants to touch other people's rubbish. Thanks, young ladies for making my day!"

Well done bulldogs!

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Close:

"On the first day of school, I witnessed Morgan Carnegie walk over to a girl who was sitting alone at lunch and invite her to sit with Morgan and her friends. The girl they invited is very quiet and shy and Morgan even helped her gather her lunch and book bag and bring it over to the empty seat at their table. Totally top-puppy worthy."

Congrats Morgan!

"I would like to nominate Jon Morin, Nicola DiTomaso, Lubomir Rzepka and Grant Mangan as Top Puppies this week. Congrats to all four students for all their hard work."

Top Puppy - May 23, 2016

This week's Top Puppies is a cool one as it has been nominated one of our students, Johnny Kiernan. This is what Johnny had to say of our winners:

"I'd like to nominate Luke Ramsey and Luke Pavao for Dogs of the Week. In an effort to investigate social behaviors, Annie Sasso conducted an experiment for her senior project that observed the Bystander Effect. Annie chose a student actor to trip and fall in an effort to see how students and faculty would react. Although many of the students ignored or disregarded this student, there were two students that went out of their ways to help the actor up and make sure he was okay. Luke and Luke have shown through their actions the way in which Bulldogs should treat each other."

Top Puppy - May 10, 2016

During Intersession, our Bulldog family literally left indelible paw prints around the world showing the true pedigree of the students and faculty that we have at Bedford High School. This insight from the teachers of A Nation Divided perfectly encapsulates the positive impression our puppies made everywhere:

"The teachers of the A Nation Divided intersession would like to nominate all of our students for Top Puppy. The students have developed a great relationship with our trip's bus driver, Keith. They high-five him every time they get off the bus and cheer his name every time he gets us through a tight spot.Tonight at the Washington, D.C. Nationals game each of the students was provided with an $8 food voucher with their tickets. Completely unbeknownst to us, the students collectively pooled their remaining vouchers at the end of the game and bought Keith, our bus driver, a Washington Nationals hat. This was such a spontaneous act of kindness that resonated with Keith and us as teachers. What a terrific example of what great kids we have!"

Congrats!

Top Puppy - April 4, 2016

This week's Top Puppies are all the students who supported and ran the fantastic Light It Up Blue week. Ms. Adams said the following:

There were countless students we would like to thank for last week. A special mention must go to Ms. Hieronymus' Leadership Club who organized the morning "blue pancakes" concession stand and ran the autism scavenger hunt. Also, many of the Life Skills and Skills SP students helped with set-up, running activities, and clean-up. They were all AWESOME and all deserve to be top puppies!

However, there was one student who went above and beyond. Nathan Kanter volunteered at several stations throughout the day and often "checked in" to see where else help was needed. Thank you, Nathan, for being an amazing help and a true Bulldog!

Top Puppy - March 28, 2016

The Science Olympiad Coaches would like to nominate Nina Levine and Sasha Neefe for Top Puppy this week because of their hard work in the design, construction, and execution of their Electric Vehicle Event. The two of them stayed after school many hours building and calibrating their vehicle. Below is a picture of their vehicle only 1.3 cm away from the line! We are also very proud of all members of both teams for representing BHS so well and ranking 1st and 4th over all at NH Science Olympiad Competition. A BHS team of 14 girls will now represent NH at the National Science Olympiad Competition in May.

Congrats!
