Top Puppy - Monday December 18, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Lucontoni:

"I would like to recognize Andy Genese. Yesterday when the snow had fallen all day, I left the building to find my entire car had been cleared of snow and ice. I later learned it was Andrew who took the time to clear it off knowing I'd be heading out to find my car covered. What he does not know is that I had nothing in my car to clean it off so it would have been a daunting task. Andy is a leader with his peers at BHS, a talent in the music department, and truly a wonderful, thoughtful young man."

Congrats Andy

Steven is a thoughtful and caring young man who truly embodies being a bulldog."

Congratulations Stevie and speedy recovery Ms. Cooney!

Top Puppy - Monday, December 4, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Burnham:

"I would like to nominate Autumn Gendron for Top Puppy. In addition to being an outstanding student in Global Studies, Autumn is a thoughtful member of the BHS Community who leads by example. On several occasions in the last few weeks, without being asked, Autumn has stayed after the bell to pick up the classroom and put all of the chairs up on the desks. I love that Autumn takes the initiative to help take care of the classroom while many assume that the job will get done by someone else."

Congratulations Autumn!

This week's Top Puppy is Brianna Coco. Brianna capped an amazing soccer season, where she led the girls soccer team to a state final with a string of outstanding performances, by being crowned New Hampshire's All American female soccer player. This award is recognition by New Hampshire coaches who elected Bri as the best player in the state through all four divisions. Through her impressive soccer ability, her outstanding character to lead on and off the field, and just for making her team mates laugh each and every day, Brianna Coco is a true All American! Congratulations Bri!

Top Puppy - Monday, November 13, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Mac:

"I would like to nominate Evan Redmond for Top Puppy. He is in ASL I and stepped outside his comfort zone to attend a Deaf social event in the area. Not only did he show up and interact with people, he remained respectful throughout the entire event by only using ASL and not ever using his voice to ask any of the other hearing people there a question (not even when one of the college students who attended used their voice to try to talk to people)."

Congratulations Evan!

Top Puppy - October 30, 2017

This week's Top Puppy winner has been nominated by Mrs. Mattson:

"Mrs. Bennett and I would like to nominate Jeremy Lee for Top Puppy! As the theatrical technical guru, Jeremy helps with so many school events and many are in the evenings and on the weekends. He is always flexible and very responsible and professional. We are lucky to have Jeremy at BHS!"

Top Puppy - November 6, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Lucontoni:

"I'd like to nominate Ben Westbrook for Top Puppy. Ben is a freshman who bleeds Bulldog spirit. He entered high school and immediately began to take advantage of all high school has to offer. Most observably, he has been the freshman football manager all fall. Recently, he stepped up and took on the role of JV and Varsity Manager as well. He is seen on the sidelines of three football games a week watching the game, assisting players on and off the field. He meets his kickers on the field to trade out their kick off and PAT/field-goal blocks, he makes it a point to hand players water or Powerade as they are coming off the field after aggressive play and he is seen giving high fives to players throughout the game. The seniors and juniors have recognized his strong work ethic on the sidelines and he has become a popular and valuable member of the football team. In addition, he maintains a strong academic work ethic, supports other sports programs, and walks the halls with a contagious smile."

Top Puppy - October 10, 2017

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Baez and Mr. Dietel:

"Mr. Dietel and I would like to nominate Gabe Hannon and Hailey Moores for top puppy. It was reported to us that our third floor hallway during 2nd lunch was collecting litter and it was most likely our humanities class leaving the items behind. We spoke to our class about taking care of our school and keeping it clean. While we were transitioning from group work into an independent assignment, both Gabe and Hailey left the room to clean the hallway. They did this without being asked and took their seats immediately afterwards without drawing attention to themselves. They demonstrated true leadership and inspired others to create a positive change. They are true top puppies!"

Top Puppy - October 23, 2017

This week's Top Puppy is Kristen Soldau and has been nominated by Ms. Rienzo:

"I would like to nominate Kristen Soldau for Top Puppy. As a leader in the band, Kristen exemplifies the Bulldog spirit. Her enthusiasm, organization, and ideas help the band be at our best! She is an outstanding example of leadership."

Top Puppy - October 16, 2017

This week's Top Puppy winner has been nominated by Mr. Lukach:

"I would enthusiastically like to nominate Kaleigh Singleton for Top Puppy. Over the course of the year so far, I have witnessed several occasions where Kaleigh has reached out to her peers with an overwhelming number of acts of kindness. When she helps others, she does so without any fanfare or expectation of reciprocity. She has proven herself to be one of the most generous and caring students that I have seen here at Bedford. She really exemplifies what it means to be a Bulldog!"

Steph Burnham also said the following about Kaleigh:

"Kaleigh goes the extra mile in our class. She is a conscientious student, a thoughtful reader, and a considerate classmate. Mr. Pepper and I have noted her strong communication skills and her commitment to establishing a connection with her teachers. We have also noted her kindness and compassion!"

Congrats Kaleigh!

Top Puppy - October 2, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Magnusson:

"I would like to nominate Charley Speaker for top puppy. Charley has just broken a school record for scoring in 7 consecutive soccer games this season. Way to go Charley! Not only that, he is a captain on the team and has shown great leadership this year. I love seeing this growth from a quiet freshman to a young man who is truly showing the charisma that has been there all along. His leadership skills and sense of humor are more and more evident in the classroom as well."

Congratulations to Charley!

"Ally Espinoza is a top puppy because she volunteered last minute to host for two weeks a Spanish exchange student from our sister school in Valladolid, Spain. That student will be able to have a welcoming place to stay when she arrives. Ally is an example of stepping up to a meet someone's need while showing care and concern. Way to go, Ally!"

Top Puppy - Monday, September 11, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been awarded to Micaley Pendleton.

Last week, on two separate occasions, Micaley went out of her way to reach out to a new Bedford student who was sitting alone at lunch. Noticing this, Micaley invited this newcomer to come and sit with her happy group and within seconds Micaley and friends were laughing and joking away making this newbie feel welcome and part of our community!

This act of kindness and warmth shown to a student, who was clearly overwhelmed at being at a new school, was so heartwarming to witness and epitomized the fantastic students we have at BHS.

Top Puppy - September 5, 2017

Mrs. Hogan has nominated the Top Puppy this week. Here is what she had to say:

"I would like to nominate Remy Bedrad for Top Puppy. Last week on during lunch, several students were sitting by the bathroom in the hallway having their lunch. Time passed and those students left but all their trash was still on the floor. Remy (who was not sitting with this group) picked up all of the trash without any prompting. This selflessness typifies the qualities of a true bulldog!"

Congrats and thank you Remy!

Top Puppy - August 29, 2017

The year's first Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Fall and the Base Camp teachers:

"The Base Camp teachers would like to nominate Ian Bresnahan for Top Puppy! Ian volunteered to be part of our BASE Camp program this summer to help answer questions for incoming freshman about BHS. Not only did he do a great job on the panel, but he volunteered to come back for the rest of the week to continue to help. He assisted with building picnic tables, helped keep the students engaged, and was a great motivator on our hike! Ian did not have to stay for the week, but remembered the value of his BASE Camp experience and wanted to pay it forward in true Bulldog fashion!"

Nice job and many thanks, Ian!

Top Puppy - June 12, 2017

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Romano:

"I'd like to recognize two athletes from the tennis program. Jason Boucher and Kate Pemberton. These two student athletes are not only dedicated to the sport of tennis, but they are always polite and show an incredible level of kindness in their character on campus. While neither of them are captains; they take on leadership tasks to support their teammates. One has been tirelessly working on including all her teammates for special recognition to a parent that has dedicated so much to the tennis program for many years and the other just competed for State "doubles" with a senior "singles" champion. You'd never know the wiser how relevant he is on the courts and how instrumental she is for the team. These two posses the ingredients of being Top Puppies."

Top Puppy - June 5, 2017

Top Puppies this week are: Nikole Misage, Eliza Schack, Sadie Pepin, and Kierstin Pidgeon. These students employed their wellness first aid training during Senior Project Celebration Days. While watching a senior project, a student became ill. These young ladies quietly escorted the student out of the classroom without disrupting the presenter. After helping with the exit, they administered care to the ill student. Their ability to handle this medical situation demonstrates the Bulldog spirit.

Talking of Top Puppies, our athletics teams have had an amazing week! Congratulations to the Boys Tennis team and the Girls Outdoor Track for winning state championships, and the girls and boys lacrosse, the softball and baseball teams for progressing to the latter stages of their tournaments at the weekend. Best of luck Bulldogs!

Because of the hard work of Molly and her team, the Bulldog Fest is now ready to go. Don't forget......this Saturday 2-6, bring a blanket, and celebrate ten years of awesomeness!

The team, comprised of Jon Hill, Bailey Ellis, Josh Taranto, Neelam Sandhu, Jacob Nover, and Luke, finished in second place in this year's Granite State Challenge tournament in NH Public Television. While they weren't able to unseat the defending champs from Nashua North, the team nevertheless showed poise and perseverance as they battled their way through the tournament, finishing higher than any previous team from BHS. Congrats on a great season! Check out their televised matches at www.nhptv.org/gsc/."

Top Puppy: Monday, May 8, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Madame Brown:

"I would like to nominate Noel Desmarais for Top Puppy. Noel was on our French exchange intersession trip and really embodied all things French. His host family spoke no English so he really had to draw upon a lot of French to communicate. He helped Mrs. Shultz and I with our suitcases in the train. The last night we were in Paris I deliberately got us lost going back to our hotel and Noel rather than freaking out, used his head, and figured out how to get us back, using his French and his wits! He loved every part of the experience, was polite, respectful and above all tried always to communicate in the language."

Congratulations Noel

This week's winner has been nominated by Ms. Dudgeon and Mr Hale:

"We'd like to nominate Rachael Rohe for Top Puppy. All Roots Honors students took a social studies unit assessment on April 14th, and in preparation for the assessment, Rachael made a comprehensive study guide/flash card set. Not only did she offer it to her friends and her own class, but she made it available to any Roots Honors student who wanted it, no matter their class or teacher. Rachael, through her actions, really shows what it means to be a Bulldog!"

Great job Rachel.

Top Puppy - April 17, 2017

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Mr Baird:

"I would like to nominate Emily and Megan Spencer for Top Puppies for their unbelievable bravery. During our Genetics unit in biology the girls approached me about doing a project so that they could talk about a rare family medical occurrence. They both worked hard to put an informational slideshow together and presented to my class with many personal details. I was shocked at the way these young women handled themselves and openly shared their lives to their peers. This is the bravest thing I have witnessed in 5 years of teaching."

Congratulations Emily and Megan!

I was impressed with his thoughtfulness and willingness to stay even after 4 hours of testing... Thanks for being such a great Bulldog Jeff!"

Top Puppy - April 3, 2017

This week's winners have been nominated by Ms. Lucontoni:

"I would like to nominate Ryan Lee and Max Chartier for Top Puppies. Both of these boys have been observed, on multiple occasions, spending quality time with another student. Two athletic, kind young men who genuinely care about the lives of other bulldogs. What makes this "puppy worthy" is that it is clear that they do not share classes or common peers, yet they still find it important to allow this young lady to be part of the whole school culture. These boys are giving another student an opportunity to talk about what is happening in her life, which is quite different than their own and they appear to genuinely care. They are not aware that they are being observed and yet they continue to take time to converse. It is what you do when no one is looking that truly defines one's character. These boys exemplify this."

Kevin is compassionate and supportive of his peers, and he demonstrates what it means to be a Bulldog!"

Congratulations Kevin!
