Margaret M. - Top Puppy Mon Dec 10, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Gallagher:

"I'd like to nominate Margaret Munson for Top Puppy this week. The Debate Team held its first tournament here at BHS last week and even though her debate partner was unavailable to compete, Margaret volunteered her time at the tournament and was instrumental in making the day run smoothly. She helped other schools find their way around, helped me set up rooms and food, and was especially helpful in organizing the scoring for teams throughout the day. I couldn't have done it without her. Thank you, Margaret!"

Georgia L. - Top Puppy: Mon. Dec 17, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Carter:

"I'd like to nominate Georgia LeComte for Top Puppy. During this past semester, I have witnessed several occasions when Georgia has reached out to students that are not necessarily in her friendship group and has invited them to sit with her and her friends in the Library. She has included them in quiet conversations and seemed genuinely interested in what was going on their lives. In addition, she always greets Mrs. Lehmann and I with a warm and friendly smile. She graciously offered to help hang the Random Acts of Kindness poster in the Cafeteria which included quote:

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” ~ Princess Diana
Georgia's everyday actions have demonstrated this quote.
Keep up being kind, Georgia! We appreciate what you have done, even though you didn't expect any reward!"

Rachel D - Top Puppy Mon Dec 3, 2018

This week's Top Puppy winner has been nominated by Mrs. Stackhouse:

"I'd like to nominate Rachel Desmond for Top Puppy this week. For the past two years, Rachel has been our student leader in advisory. She continues to be our enthusiastic role model. Even in the middle of a busy senior year, Rachel consistently and enthusiastically organizes weekly events for our group. Rachels makes sure our seniors have festive picnics and seasonal food and is always prepared with fun game or arts & craft. My advisory would not be the same without Rachel's contagious enthusiasm! Rachel is the definition of what it means to be a Bulldog!"

Congratulations, Rachel!

Valerie C. - Top Puppy Mon. Nov 5, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Baez:

"I'd like to nominate Valerie Cadugan for Top Puppy this week. She hosted a French Exchange student and went above and beyond to make sure her new friend was included in our classes and experiences within our Bulldog culture. Valerie translated everything in class and truly included her new friend into her social groups. What is more, at one time, I was walking towards the office, I noticed Valerie showing off some of our student artwork. Her new friend posed with some of the artwork and Valerie snapped a few pictures to document her friend's American experience. Valerie is definitely a Top Puppy!"

Eesa H. - Top Puppy Mon Oct 22, 2018

This week's Top Puppy winner has been nominated by Madam Noble:

"I'd like to nominate Eesa Hafeez for Top Puppy this week. Last spring, Eesa was inspired by a student presentation during World Language Week about a program called Global Leadership Adventures. Within weeks, Eesa had researched and applied for a spot to go to Tanzania. He had a great experience, shared it with all of the World Language teachers, plans on sharing it during World Language Week this year AND we just found out that he was nominated as Ambassador for the program for his "compassion, personal growth, optimism, innovation, integrity, respect, and cooperation."

What a wonderful ambassador we have in Eesa for BHS!

This week's Top Puppy winner was nominated by Ms. Carnegie:

He saw that we were all loaded up with our bags and ready to go and jumped right in to help so we could get on our way. His quick assistance was very much appreciated!"

Calvin A. - Top Puppy Oct 1, 2018

Congratulations to all the officers who made Friday's Club Fair such a positive occasion. Ms Hazelton wanted to recognize Calvin Ang, especially, for his efforts:

Steven W. and Drew A. - Top Puppy Mon. Sept 24, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Carter who said the following:

"I would like to nominate Steven Watson and Drew Allard for this week's Top Puppy. Since students have checked out their textbooks, we had to return remaining textbooks to the 3rd Floor Storage room. On Friday, Steven Watson and Drew Allard heard me stacking books and they offered to help me! It was a big help on a Friday afternoon - many hands make light work."

Great Job!

Jasper B - Top Puppy Sept 17, 2018

This week's Top Puppy winner has been nominated by Mr. Lukach and Ms. Dolce:

"We'd like to nominate Jasper Bator for Top Puppy. At the start of the school year, Jasper, a former student, stopped by our classroom with an enormous box of granola bars to keep in our closet in case any of our current students needed a snack during the day and were not getting fed. It was a very generous gesture and has been utilized by students who have missed breakfast or lunch to keep them well-fed throughout the day. True Bulldog spirit from a wonderful young man."

Congratulations Jasper!

Monday, September 10, 2018

Drew D - Top Puppy Sept. 10, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Mr. Lydon:

"I would like to nominate Drew Doughty for Top Puppy. Last Tuesday, after the Cross Country meet at Mines Falls in Nashua, I was approached by a runner from Bishop Guertin. He pulled me aside to let me know that "Drew is not only a great athlete but also a great person." During the race he (the runner from B.G.) felt sick and vomited on on the side of the trail. Drew came upon him and stopped his race to check on the runner from B.G., offered some encouragement, and made sure he was ok before continuing with his own race. Great sportsmanship and Bulldog spirit!"

Congrats

Top Puppy - Monday, June 11, 2018

This week's Top Puppy is Grant Lavigne who incredibly found out on Tuesday that he was selected #42 in the MLB draft by the Colorado Rockies. Incredibly, this makes Grant the highest non-pitcher draft pick in New Hampshire history!

As a Bulldog, with a career batting average of 490, Grant has started every game in his four year career, which is unique in Bedford sporting history. Despite all these individual accolades, Grant has remained very humble and has put the baseball team and their quest for a state championship before everything else. Grant Lavigne epitomizes what it means to be a team player and is a true class act for not allowing his own individual success effect the team.

Good luck to Grant and the baseball team in their championship game against Exeter at 4pm at Fisher Cats Stadium

Top Puppy - Monday, June 4, 2018

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Mr Lydon:

"I'd like to nominate Julianna Poirier and Clara Richards for Top Puppy. They worked hard all year teaching and training the Lurgio extension of our DECA chapter. At the Middle School State Conference the team from Lurgio took first place in their event. I think Julianna and Clara deserve credit for how well prepared the Lurgio students were for competition."

Congratulations Julianna and Clara!

Top Puppy - Monday, May 29, 2018

This week's winners have been nominated by Ms. Devito:

"I would like to nominate Gunner Grant and Jason Merk for Top Puppy. A few week's ago during Advisory, we were playing basketball with Mrs. Miller's class. Towards the end, someone got hurt. Without thinking, and with real composure, Gunner took it upon himself to go get the nurse. At the same time, Jason stayed with the injured party and was really helpful with his reassurance and kind words in looking after the player. I thought both young men from Mrs. Miller's Advisory showed great sense of Bulldog community, and I commend them for that."

Top Puppy - Monday, May 21, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Lucontoni:

"I want to nominate junior, Kiersten Pidgeon, for Top Puppy. Up until yesterday, I had never met Kiersten, but she shined her true Bulldog colors last evening. After a long, exhausting day and evening, I realized I needed to grab a few things at the supermarket. After I had finished my shopping and returned to my car, I realized I had thrown my cell phone into the Hannaford trash. Yes, the gross public trash can. Left with no choice, I started digging. While sifting through in the dark, this very kind girl exiting the store and seeing my distress come over and started digging with me. She then helped search my car with her cell phone light and called my phone in hopes that it would ring. I honestly could not believe this young high school student was helping me go through trash to find my phone. Shortly after I found the phone, I asked Kiersten's name and learned that she was indeed a BHS Student. It was incredibly reassuring that the compassionate, kind students we see in our classrooms are equally as compassionate and kind in the community, when no one is looking."

Top Puppy - Monday, May 14, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Mr Hehn:

"Kara Christensen exemplifies what a good person and good citizen is. She is often holding door open for others. When the teacher meeting ended this past Thursday, there was a student behind the auditorium doors holding them open so all could come out. When I glanced behind the door, who else but Kara. On our Intersession trip, our bus driver asked for help loading and unloading suitcases from under the bus. Every morning Kara volunteered to load the suitcases, and every night she helped unload the suitcases. This involved crawling under the bus and moving heaving suitcases....never a complaint and always positive about helping. She demonstrates the Bulldog spirit, creating a caring community that supports each other!"

Top Puppy - Monday, May 7, 2018

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Mr. Stank:

"Congratulations to Thomas Norfleet, Joshua Koellmer, and Ben Lacombe who were recently selected for the Joe Yukica Scholar-Athlete Award. These young men were selected for their academic, athletic, and community work that they accomplished over their high school career. These gentlemen have helped lead the football program on and off the field over their four year term at BHS and will be greatly missed."

Congrats!

Top Puppy - Monday April 16, 2018

This week's winners have been nominated by Ms. Dolce:

"This past weekend members from National History Day represented BHS at Plymouth State University in a statewide competition. Many of these students have worked tirelessly since the summer creating engaging websites, exhibits, papers and even group performances that presented their rich analysis of original research topics. After watching these very talented (and very dedicated!) students last weekend, I would like to nominate Amanda Xie, Katelyn Hirnak, Emet Baker, Nikhil Gottemukkala, Srinivaas Chetlur, Vidhur Narayan, Claudia Reine, Kaitlyn Dinndorf and Sierra Dinndorf for Top Puppy. As state winners, these nine students will be heading to Washington, D.C. to represent BHS at the National Contest next month. A big congratulations and good luck to them!!"

Monday, April 9, 2018

Top Puppy - Monday, April 10, 2018

This week's Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Lydon:

"A few weeks ago I attended the Destination Imagination competition, and was blown away by the project that some of our students did. Mitchel Soederberg, Matt Helmke, Emily O’Brien, Lavinia Nash, Joey Carriello, and Jamie Karr, were instrumental in getting a warrant article on the ballot and passed to fund biodegradable trays in our lunchrooms. This group worked tirelessly with the community to write up the article and then talked to everyone they could about it. This is an issue that at least two other groups have tried to address in town, but Michael, Matt, Joey, Emily, Lavinia and Jamie are the first to actually make it happen.

As we have seen all too clearly, change happens when young people stand up and ask for it, and I am so proud of this group of students! For this reason, I would like to nominate the Destination Imagination group for Top Puppy!"

Top Puppy - Monday, April 2, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. O'Connell:

"I would like to nominate Hannah Riley for Top Puppy. Hannah is a thoughtful and passionate student activist who has emerged as a leader at BHS after the tragedy in Parkland. Hannah's moving speech about Parkland victim Alyssa Alhadeff was selected for the Concord March for our Lives on March 24th. Hannah was one of the handful of students across the state chosen to speak. Students finding their voices is one of the most important things happening in our country right now, and they make me proud to live here."

Congratulations Hannah.

Top Puppy - Monday, March 26, 2018

This week's Top Puppies have been put forward by Madame Noble:

"I'd like to nominate Sara Clark and Angelina Snegach for creating an excellent presentation during World Language Week on behalf of the French Honor Society. About 200 students attended during their presentation and enjoyed a panel of BHS students who have lived abroad, a Kahoot for language identification, a pronunciation bee, new songs and finally a line dance with audience participation. It was a great way to wrap up the week - their dedication, organization and enthusiasm produced a great experience for many language students in our building. Merci!"

Congratulations Sara and Angelina.

Top Puppy - Monday, March 19, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Dolce:

"I would like to nominate Hannah Rinko for Top Puppy. Hannah was a fantastic addition to my Psychology class last semester, always helping out her peers and even bringing in surprises for people when they were having a "down" day. Hannah's Senior Project is based around the premiss of "paying it forward" with random acts of kindness and her first random act brought many smiles to the faces of the adults in the building. Hannah is a great student and a wonderful role model for those around us (adults included!) and I am so happy to recommend her for Top Puppy!"

Top Puppy - March 12, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Magnusson:

"I would like to nominate Tori Pratt for Top Puppy. Tori is a wonderful person, very genuine. Academically, she always impresses me. Everyday she comes to school ready to learn and participate. Her energy and friendliness is always consistent and noticeable. I appreciate that I can always count on her to talk in class. No matter who she works with in class she is always caring and helpful.

Sports are really important to Tori and I love to hear about those accomplishments as well.
Tori captained our alpine ski team who captured their first ever State Championship. She finished 4th overall at the Divisional meet in both slalom and giant slalom. With a 7th place finish in the Meet of Champions at Cannon Mountain over break she qualified for the Eastern Championships."

Congratulations Tori!

Top Puppy - Monday, March 5, 2018

This week's Top Puppy is Isabella Mottola.

Isabella won a school-wide competition to paint the 2018 World Language mural. She then came in and spent a lot of her vacation to sketch and paint her design. Her final design is amazing and can be found in the stairwell near the FACS room. Congratulations and thank you Isabella.

Top Puppy - Monday, February 19, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Ms. Hazelton:

"I would like to nominate Natalie Ferreira for top puppy. This week we had a new student from another country auditing our class. Natalie took her under her wing and made her feel a part of the class. What could have been a lonely and isolated student, now has at least one new friend. Natalie rocks!"

Top Puppy - Monday Feb 5, 2018

This weeks Top Puppies have been nominated by Ms. Campbell-Kelley:

"I would like to nominate Amanda Altemus and Allison England for top puppies. Amanda and Allison attended the annual Special Olympics Youth Leadership Summit in Waterville Valley at the end of November. The Youth Leadership Summit is an activity filled opportunity for a unified pair of students to share ideas and tools to continue to build positive school culture and establish ongoing communication with other schools to network and share best practices.

Shortly after we returned from the Summit we received an email from the NH Special Olympics Program Director who were not only impressed with Allison and Amanda’s strong student bond but also how well they interacted with all the other students and teachers attending the Summit and their articulation of how BHS has been a leader in unifying our school with the implementation of Peer to Peer Art, Music and Wellness, Basketball, the Bedford Bobcats and now our Leadership class is gearing up to host a Unified Prom.

With that, an exciting opportunity was extended to us. Amanda and Allison have been selected to represent NH and join the NH delegation of 36 athletes and 14 coaches in the 2018 US Games Youth Leadership Experience in Seattle, Washington for a week in July. I am very proud and excited for these young ladies and we are looking forward to experiencing the 2018 Special Olympic US Games."

Top Puppy - Monday, January 29, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Mrs Doyle:

"I'd like to nominate Seemona Petrenko for Top Puppy this week. She recruited and organized 18 of her fellow Ski and Ride Club members to give up their Sunday morning to help raise money for the club by working 2 water stops at a local road race in Derry. She did a great job recruiting, communicating with and continually updating the volunteers!"

Great job Seemona!

This week's Top Puppy is Alex Maters. Alex is the driving force behind the Global Unity Club which aims to bring greater awareness and respect to all cultures of the world into the hallways of BHS. Through her passion and drive, notably through the outstanding monthly Bathroom Bulletins that she helps edit, Alex and her club members are making a positive contribution in bringing the Bulldog community together.

Thank you Alex, and all of the Global Unity club, for all that you do.

Top Puppy - Tuesday, January 16, 2018

This week's Top Puppy has been nominated by Mr. Bashalany:

"Max Chartier is truly deserving of the title: Top Puppy at BHS. This week, Max found an envelope with a card on the floor by his classroom chair. The contents of this envelope contained cash. Immediately, Max turned the entire card over —cash included—to the classroom teacher without hesitation. This form of integrity is a value that is strived for not just at BHS, but in everyone. Instances like these are common in Max, as he has been observed picking up trash on the floor that he walks by on his way out of the library in the morning. Max exemplifies what is meant by being a Bulldog!"

Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Top Puppy - Monday, January 8, 2018

This week's winner has been nominated by Ms. Hatzidakis:

"I'd like to nominate Jillian Collins for Top Puppy. TWICE last week, I discovered Jill picking up trash left behind by fellow lunchers. Jill demonstrates the Bulldog spirit we need around here! I hope more students are inspired by Jill to take ownership of this building's atmosphere and culture."

Great job Jillian!
